Women

Jesus, in His day, radically elevated the position of women in comparison to society at large. They were counted amongst His followers as well as His friends. His ministry was in part underwritten by women. Jesus permitted them to sit in on his instruction, something uncommon for a rabbi. Continuing to affirm the dignity and worth of women, the apostle Paul communicated the reality of there being no distinction in the eyes of God between men and women but that both are of equal value, coheirs to salvation. Truly God’s Word emphasizes that the living hope obtained in Jesus Christ is irrespective of gender.

Honduran culture is extremely male oriented. “Machismo” is the norm. Women therefore are relegated to a subservient position. Often without many of the modern conveniences, preparing meals and doing laundry along with tending to the children occupies the entire day. For many households there is no male present, making the load even heavier. Iglesia Cristiana Esperanza Viva, following the examples of Jesus and Paul, seeks to acknowledge the noble sacrifices of women and offer honor where honor is due. Monthly meetings are designed specifically to encourage and refresh our sisters in Christ. An annual women’s conference is an opportunity for ladies of various congregations to gather, worship and celebrate the sisterhood they enjoy as daughters of the King. As throughout the history of the church, the women of ICEV are an example of spiritual consistency and strength in the Kingdom.
