May 15, 2009 - Property Progress: What began as a dream is now taking physical shape. Over the last few months progress has been continual on the Living Hope Christian Church property. The large perimeter wall has been completed. Both the interior and the exterior have been skillfully stuccoed. A beautiful individual entrance door as well as an enormous and equally beautifully vehicle entrance door have been constructed and put in place by Ibraham Paz and Miguel Raudales Sr. A 2500 gallon cistern is currently being dug. The initial plans for the building and property design are now in the hands of an architect and we are awaiting preliminary sketches. We give praise and honor and glory to God for all that he has provided in order to accomplish what has been done to this point. We give God thanks for the generous hearts combined with the willing hands that are raising up something that will not only be a blessing to Living Hope Christian Church, but also the community at large for generations to come.
April 13, 2009 - Forward Agent Change: Living Hope Ministries is now incorporated in the state of Ohio. Please send all financial contributions to our new address in Ohio. See our contact page for the new address. Craig Heimberger will take over the duties of forwarding agent from Jim Ferneau. We thank Jim for his many years of dedicated service in this vital area of our ministry.
March 7-14, 2009: Living Hope hosted a team from Blue Springs Christian Church for a week of ministry.
February, 2009 - School Supplies Distribution: The beginning of the school year is always a stressful time for many of the families of our congregation. Uniforms, supplies, and special activity fees compete with the expenses of daily needs. Thanks to the generosity of our brothers and sisters of the Christian Church in Louisville, Ohio, we were able to purchase school supplies, preparing 72 kits for students from kindergarten through university. What an incredible blessing from God to His children in Honduras.
February, 2009 - Property Update: God continues to faithfully provide needed resources to advance the construction on the property. Although Marvin’s leg was broken in the accident involving the church van, he has continued to spearhead the work effort. The two walls that enclose this corner lot have been constructed. At present the workers are doing the plastering on the exterior portion of the walls.
January 24, 2009 - Youth Hike: Getting away from the routine. That’s what we did January 24. With our youth group, 38 made the trip from the city of Tegucigalpa to La Tigra National Park for a challenging hike through the wilderness to the waterfall. Along the way we had five teaching times focusing on the theme of The Incredible Journey – Psalms 119:19. At the end of the hike 4 young people made decisions for Jesus. We are continuing to work with them to encourage them in their journey with Christ. We are thankful for those who financially support Living Hope. It is through your partnership that we were able to rent a large bus to provide transportation for the day.
January 1, 2009: On New Years Day, members of Iglesia Cristiana Esperanza Viva (Living Hope Christian Church) gathered at the church property for a time of worship and prayer. We had so much for which to be thankful. Only one year prior we had met in the same place asking God, in faith, for his provision to purchase the property. To meet on the property, relatively free of trash, the beginning of walls around it and know that it belonged to the church was such a blessing.
December 13, 2008: Upon returning December 13 from Orphanage Renacer where our youth had ministered through drama, recreation and song, one of our vans was involved in a serious accident. Someone attempting to pass the van, cut off our driver while trying to avoid a head on collision. Our van with its 16 passengers was forced into rear-ending an s.u.v. at a roadside car wash causing a domino effect with 2 other cars. All of our people were taken to seek medical attention. What could have resulted in multiple fatalities instead ended with one broken leg, one fractured toe, 2 injured legs, 3 injured backs, an injured neck and abrasions. Although the van is a near total loss (someone has expressed interest in purchasing it), we consider ourselves truly blessed that all have recovered completely with the exception of Marvin who continues healing and who will have his second follow up at the clinic Feb. 13.
November 29, 2008: On November 29, we held our first women’s conference. This has been a dream for a long time, and with the help and encouragement of “secondary visionaries”, God allowed this dream to become a reality. Seven churches participated in this event with a total of 122 ladies present. The purpose of this conference was to encourage the women in their daily walk with the Lord. With the help of the ladies group in Marlboro Christian Church, Ohio and a missionary friend we were able to provide a nice meal for the ladies, booklets, gifts, and snacks. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and encouragement. We had a guest speaker, classes, a wonderful worship team, and special music from a young lady from Ozark Bible College. We are looking forward to our second conference this year with the theme “A Transformed Life.” Our women’s ministry is blessed by so many ladies in the states to bless so many ladies here. God is good!
