Building Project
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. - Philippians 1:6
What God begins, he finishes. This is the hope we have in Christ. God has given a new birth to all who surrender their lives to Jesus. Although not perfect, these are maturing daily to become more and more like their Savior. The promise is that God will see this transformation through to its completion, not because of an individual’s will power but because God is at work in him and God finishes what He starts.
After searching for property for more than two years, in August of 2007 God initiated something amazing. In faith we signed a contract for a parcel of ground in a community where we had seen God touching people’s lives through the church. After much prayer and fasting we used our entire property fund of $20K as a down payment for the $57.5K property. We were given one year interest free to pay off the balance. A week before the due date of the final payment, God had provided the entire sum.
We dreamed of what could be constructed to minister on this property. The resulting vision? A three story building that when finished will have an auditorium for 220 or more people, 6 large classrooms, a dividable multipurpose room, administrative area, kitchen, library, computer lab, 2 stories of storage space, 7,000 gallon cistern, restrooms with showers, apartment, soccer field & multi-sport field (3rd story), playground, and a youth room.
The construction of this nearly half a million dollar ministry center, humanly speaking, would appear beyond our reach, as did purchasing the property. We are confident however that this will be a reality; a place where people will both hear the life changing message of salvation in Christ, and also be equipped to live and share that message with others. In fact the work has already begun with much progress. For its completion, the partnership of many who share the same vision will be necessary.
The first level is now under construction. Funds on hand will allow for the completion of the auditorium. An incredible opportunity for our present need has been presented for the year of 2010 that would make it possible to complete the entire first level. Would you prayerfully consider joining us in this exciting endeavor for the kingdom of God here in Honduras and beyond?
Matching Funds
Living Hope Ministries has received a generous proposal for the year of 2010. A north-American Christian family has committed to matching funds donated for the construction of the ministry center up to the amount of $50,000.
If you encounter people who would like to contribute, they can do so by sending monies designated to the Building Project to the address listed above. All contributions are tax deductible.
Youth Nicaragua Mission Trip
Hello from Jorge Calix. I give thanks to God for the opportunity that He gave me with Living Hope Christian Church and Mision Caribe to be able to go to our brother country Nicaragua and teach what our God commands. I have much to share after our missionary trip. My major lesson was that God is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient, helping us to do all of work and it being a success. We came to a place called El Jicorito, a place where food is scarce. At our meal time we asked for tortillas, but it was something they couldn’t give because the tortilla is very scare. My major lesson, God is omnipotent preparing each of us in each area.
The day we arrived it was 10 p.m. After our brother in Christ and companion Jesús dropped off the sisters the vehicle broke down. We wanted to fix the car and worked on it until 1 a.m. but it didn’t start.
Our group evangelized in the area of El Jicorito and invited people on Saturday to see a movie there. When it came time on Saturday for the movie a big storm came with rain and more rain. The river in the area grew and grew. The minister and leader of the group, Deniss, was in charge of transporting the people to the movie. When we were returning from El Jicorito, he couldn’t pass the river because it was overflowing. All of the guys assisted him from midnight to 1 a.m. pushing the van to get across. We found the necessary help to be able to get back to the house of the Mondragon family and giving thanks to all of the ministers staying there.
I am Edson Silva, a young servant that has a calling to serve and missions. This trip was of faith because I had struggles to go to do the work of God. The work of God is very (extenia) and important because it is a command of God. It’s precious to be able to experience the work to this degree. God used my life to be able to add a spirit of work and struggle to my companions on this trip. I was also used in the life of those we ministered to. It’s clear I’m called to take the gospel. Simply, it changed my life completely and opened my eyes.
I am Alex Pineda. First I give thanks to God because he opened the doors for us to be able to go on this trip to Nicaragua. It was a trip in which we lived many experiences. We went to evangelize, give words of encouragement to the brothers and doing the will of God. I am a servant willing to serve. God bless you.
Hello, my name is Sara E. Bonilla. Above everything, in the first place I want to give thanks to God for the great opportunity he gave me. It was so special for me to leave my country. Specifically I am thankful to God to go to this place where many, many difficulties presented themselves for us to be there. But I am grateful to God because there were very good and great blessings. We saw the poverty that is there and the need to know God, as well as the lack of workers to share the knowledge of God’s love. This has motivated me to reflect in that it is not important in what conditions we live or are. He always gives us the opportunity to honor Him no matter the moment. I continue to be available to serve and learn more of Him.
