There aren’t many times in the Scriptures that you see Jesus openly unhappy with His disciples. So when He is you know it must be something serious. What could lead to such displeasure? On one occasion the disciples were rebuking parents who were attempting to bring their children to meet Jesus. The twelve probably felt justified. After all, Jesus was doing important things such as teaching adults and performing miracles. In their eyes he didn’t have time for something as insignificant as praying for and blessing babies and children. It didn’t take long for the Lord to set the disciples straight, informing them that these children were far more advanced in their faith and receptivity to His message than many adults. He made time for them.

It has been said that the only raw material that God has for making an adult is a child. In a culture where they are irrelevant, Iglesia Cristiana Esperanza Viva places a high priority on sharing the love of Jesus Christ with children. They are not the church of tomorrow. They are the church of today. As such, time, energies and resources are invested in order to teach them in God’s ways so that when they are old they will not depart from them. The future husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, employers and employees are all around us right now in the form of children. What a privilege we have to make time for them and help them experience the Savior’s love and direct them into a living hope.

God has blessed us with caring and competent teachers who dedicate themselves to instructing these little ones. They do so not only through the sharing of lessons, but perhaps even more importantly, through the living example of their lives which are dedicated to following Jesus.
